Rich County May Tax Sale Information

2026 May Tax Sale List (Updated 4/24/2026)

Notice is hereby given that on Thursday, the 14th of May, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM (MDT), the Rich County, Utah Tax Sale will begin. The sale will close the same day at the times shown on each auction item. All sales will be made by public auction to the highest bidder, under the provisions of Section 59-2-1351.1, Utah Code Annotated.

The auction will be conducted via the Public Surplus website only at the Publish Surplus: Real Estate website. Bidding will be conducted online only; no in-person bids will be accepted. Rich County is not liable for any failure of an electronic device or other technical issue that prevents a person from participating in the auction. 

Property Listings: The list of properties offered for sale will be available on the Public Surplus website beginning April 15, 2026, and will be updated daily. Properties that are redeemed or removed from the sale will be updated accordingly.

Bidder Registration: In order to bid, you must register through the Public Surplus website no later than Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 4:00 PM MDT.

Bid Deposit: A $1,000.00 bid deposit, submitted via wire transfer through the Public Surplus website, is required prior to bidding. This deposit is not applied toward the purchase price of any property. If you are not the winning bidder, your deposit will be returned to you in full following the conclusion of the sale. If you are the winning bidder and fail to complete payment, your deposit will be forfeited.

Payment: Full payment for all winning bids is due within five (5) business days of the sale's conclusion and must be submitted via wire transfer through the Public Surplus website. Instructions will be emailed to the winning bidders at the conclusion of the auction. A bid for less than the total amount of taxes, interest, penalty, and administrative costs, which are a charge upon the real estate, will not be accepted.

Redemption: Delinquent property may be redeemed at any time prior to the start of the tax sale on May 14, 2026. To redeem a property or to confirm current redemption amounts, contact the Rich County Treasurer’s Office at (435) 793-5155.

Properties Sold As-Is: All properties are sold as-is. Rich County makes no warranty or guarantee, expressed or implied, as to the usability, location, desirability, condition, boundary lines, or title of any property. Buyers are solely responsible for conducting their own due diligence, including researching any liens, encumbrances, or easements that may affect the property. There is no redemption period following the sale. Any property not sold at the tax sale will be struck off to Rich County.

Tax Sale Deed: A Tax Sale Deed will be issued ten (10) days following the conclusion of the sale.

The tax sale is advertised four (4) weeks prior to the tax sale in the News Examiner, published in Montpelier, ID, and/or the Uinta County Herald, published in Evanston, WY.

There is no county financing available.
